The National Air and Space Museum celebrates Space Day with a variety of activities for children, families, and teachers. This year's theme, "Living and Working in Space," features interactive, hands-on exhibits and special displays, space suits and demonstrations. Space Day activities will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday.
The opening ceremony features Museum Director Jack Dailey, former astronauts John Glenn and Sally Ride and other luminaries.
Cyber Space Day, an engaging and lively three-hour webcast from noon to 3 p.m. will be broadcast live from the museum. This interactive event will feature some of the most extraordinary people involved in space exploration, and will invite the participation of children from across the country.
