This is a 1:24 scale model of the Hawk, a U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps surface-to-air missile which provides medium-range, low to medium altitude air defense against a variety of targets. Carrying a conventional warhead, the first version of the missile was deployed in 1959 in West Germany, Okinawa, and Panama. Later versions saw service in Vietnam and the Persian Gulf War. Many allied nations have acquired Hawks, including Israel, Britain, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. The Army Ballistic Missile Agency built this model and donated it to NASM in 1961.
