This is an example of the United States Air Force shade no. 84 wool service coat. Shade 84 was the first blue uniformed issued to USAF personnel in 1947 and was phased out in 1967 by the Shade 1549 verson.
This uniform was worn by the donor while serving with Military Air Lift Command.

United States Air Force (USAF) blue shade No. 84 wool service coat; single breasted with drop fall collar; four silver buttons down front with U.S. Air Force crest embossed; two upper box pleat pockets with button flap closure; two lower patch pockets with button flap closure; officer stripe on each cuff; epaulets with silver buttons.
