The Fisher Pen Company produced this data recording pen for the Apollo 11 mission in July 1969. With a nitrogen pressurized ink cartridge, this model AG-7 could be used to write in the reduced gravity of space. NASA attached a velcro square to allow attachment to the inside of the spacecraft or other items so the pen did not get lost. The company also made these pens available to the public, so anyone could purchase one like those used by astronauts. It is not known to which astronaut this pen was assigned.
NASA transferred the pen to the Museum in 1979.
