This is a 1:48 scale model of the Scout rocket. Developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Scout was a solid-fuel, four-stage rocket that was first used in 1960. Over the next thirty-four years, the rocket underwent several improvements and was used to launch a variety of scientific satellites and probes by NASA, the Department of Defense, and the European Space Research Organization. In the end, the Scout proved to be one of the most reliable, versatile, and cost-effective launch vehicles ever developed. NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center built his model and transferred it to NASM in 1972.
