This is a 1:100 scale model of the Saturn V rocket. Developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, during the historic Apollo 11 mission in July 1969 the Saturn V sent astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the surface of the Moon while Michael Collins remained in lunar orbit. Saturn Vs were utilized for the Apollo 8 and Apollo 10 preliminary lunar missions and on the remaining six lunar landing missions during 1969-1972. One was also used to launch the Skylab Orbital Workshop into Earth orbit in May 1973.

NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center made this plastic model with a wood stand and transferred it to the Museum in 1976.
