This 4-kopek stamp commemorates the flight of German Titov on board his Vostok spacecraft. On 6 August 1961, Titov was launched on board the Vostok 2 spacecraft to become the first human to spend a day in space. Titov's flight occurred less than four months after Yuri Gagarin become the first man in space and before the Americans launched a human being into a full orbit of the Earth.

The Soviet military attaché gave this item to the museum.
