The Apollo 11 Command Module "Columbia" was equipped with a Maurer automatic 16mm data acquisition camera (DAC), designed to operate at several speeds while documenting technical aspects of the mission. On this film magazine, it recorded engineering data, spacecraft, and crew performance during docking and undocking procedures. Mounted in "Columbia's" window, the camera recorded many of the historic events leading up to humankind's first landing on the Moon in July 1969.

NASA transferred this camera to the Museum in 1970.
