These lightweight headphones were issued to astronaut Neil Armstrong for his Apollo 11 mission in 1969. They were designed to be used in the spacecraft during periods when the communications carrier, affectionately known as the "Snoopy Cap" was not in use, usually for reasons of comfort.

The headphones were transferred to the National Air and Space Museum from NASA in 1979.
