This Lunar Module model was given to Dr. Charles S. Draper by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Dr. Draper was the founder and director of the university's Intrumentation Laboratory and developed guidance systems for naval vessels, aircraft, rockets, missiles, and spacecraft. The Apollo spacecraft were among those that utilized his guidance systems. Dr. Draper donated the model to NASM in 1980.
