Urinal Assembly, Skylab

Urinal Assembly, Skylab

This is a duplicate part of the Skylab fecal/urine collector, or toilet, adapted for use in weightlessness. The flexible urinal device, which was attached to a larger waste collection module, could be used in either an upright or seated position. Skylab astronauts, all males, used foot straps or a lap belt to stay in place when using the toilet, which was mounted on a wall, rather than the floor. NASA sent some of the extra Skylab equipment to the Museum when the program ended. This piece may have been used for engineering study.
