  • Summary

Manufacturer:   MIT Instrumentation Laboratory

Country of Origin: Unnited States of America

Dimensions:
Approximate: 24 x 12 x 12in. (60.96 x 30.48 x 30.48cm)

Materials:
Cloth of unknown material.

The Lunar Traverse Gravimeter was designed to measure the Moon's gravitational field using a precise accelerometer. While on the Moon, astronauts would move the device to different locations and take readings of the graviational force. The device was covered by a blanket to minimize temperature fluctuations.

This artifact is an unflown example of the blanket, for a Gravimeter that was flown on at least one Apollo mission.
