Model, Missile, AGM-69A
This is a model of unknown scale of the AGM-69A short-range attack missile, a supersonic air-to-ground missile that is designed for use by U.S. Air Force bombers against enemy air defense systems or strategic targets. Carrying a nuclear warhead, the missile utilizes a solid-fuel motor and an inertial guidance system with terrain-avoidance capability. It reportedly has a range of up to 50 nautical miles. Between 1971 and 1975 1,500 missiles were produced, and they were initially deployed on FB-111 and B-52G/H aircraft. Beginning in 1986 the missiles were also deployed on B-1B aircraft. The model's manufacturer is unknown.
John and Cynthia Heyde donated it to the museum.
