June 6 is the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of Western Europe that gave the Allies the foothold they needed to defeat Nazi Germany the next year. Join the National Air and Space Museum for a day of activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

  • Learn about the preservation of Flak-Bait, a true survivor of World War II (11 am)
  • Enjoy concerts by the Air Force Strings (12:00 pm and 1:00 pm)
  • Hear the story of the Douglas C-47's role at D-Day (12:30 pm)
  • Discover how the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion protected the beaches of Normandy (1:30 pm)
  • Snap a picture at the Rosie the Riveter Selfie Station
  • Explore D-Day items in the collection of the National Air and Space Museum Archives
  • View World War II aviation photos in original color and virtual reality
  • Take a special D-Day themed docent tour
  • Watch D-Day 3D in the Airbus IMAX Theater (fees apply) (11:00 am and 12:30 pm)
