Recent advances in electronics have given users of smartphones the same navigational abilities that were once confined to bulky and expensive military equipment. Join curator Paul Ceruzzi as he discusses the iPhone 4 that was disassembled for the Time and Navigation exhibit and what it contains: nearly all the components of a satellite-augmented inertial navigation system similar to what was carried on the nuclear-powered submarine Alabama, exhibited elsewhere in the gallery.
