The varied missions of modern airpower developed during the first world war—observation, bombing, combat fighter.  During WWI, aircraft designers began to create distinct designs for each of these specific missions.  Join chief curator Peter Jakab to learn how the fighter plane evolved to meet the demands of air combat.
