The first mission launched in NASA’s Living With a Star Program, the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) is designed to help us better understand how the Sun works and how it influences our lives. From the very start of its mission, SDO revealed incredible views of erupting prominences and flares with amazing clarity. Learn how SDO will change how we see the Sun inside and out, in this lecture illustrated with spectacular images and video of the star that is so crucial to life on Earth.
Dean Pesnell is the Project Scientist for the Solar Dynamics Observatory.
This program is made possible by the generous support of Aerojet and NASA.
