In August 2012 the Curiosity rover (Mars Science Laboratory) arrived on Mars in a daring feat of engineering. During its primary mission of one Mars year (approximately 23 months) it will investigate Gale Crater where a vast series of geologic layers preserves a rich record of the environmental history of early Mars. See the latest images and results in this lecture highlighting Curiosity’s trek through Mars’ past and present.
John Grotzinger is the Chief Scientist for the Mars Science Laboratory Mission.
The Exploring Space Lectures Series is made possible by the generous support of NASA, with additional support provided by Aerojet.
