Explore the Universe Day – Everybody Looks Up!

Throughout the Museum in Washington, DC
Admission: Free


 

Join a museum expert for a free, live presentation on the stars in the Albert Einstein Planetarium at 10:30 a.m. (seating is limited and will be is first-come, first-served).

Discuss telescopes with a Galileo re-enactor, chat with expert and amateur astronomers, and gaze at Venus and the Sun from the Museum's Public Observatory, weather permitting.

The Starry Messenger
"Galileo" shares his new discoveries in an interactive theatrical presentation (best for ages 8 and up).

2:00 p.m. 
Star Tales from Italy to Africa and beyond

Hands-On Activities:

  • Uncover the mysteries of the Nebra Disc while making your own
  • Build your own astrolabe
  • Construct a pocket-sized solar clock
  • Discover the Tibetan Zodiac
  • Learn more about astrological star signs
  • Draw your interpretations of real constellations
