2014 Conference

Mutual Concerns is a unique, international meeting, focused specifically on the needs of the air and space museum community. The conference features three days of panel discussions and concurrent sessions, offering everything from practical, in-depth information to timely tricks of the trade. The full agenda lists all the sessions for this year's meeting.

Serving both large and small museums, conference sessions cover relevant topics, like fundraising, preparing the next generation of museum staff, planning and executing unique educational activities, archiving collections, and exhibiting.

The meeting is designed to give participants ample learning opportunities and meaningful time at the National Air and Space Museum. The conference is also an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from around the world. Over 100 museum and museum-related organizations attend annually.

This year, Mutual Concerns will be held in Crystal City, VA, and Washington, DC. The Conference will begin with an evening reception on Friday, April 11, at the Marriott Crystal Gateway in Crystal City. Conference sessions will run from Saturday, April 12, through Monday, April 14. Sessions will be held at the Marriott Crystal Gateway on Saturday and Sunday, and at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC on Monday.

We are also offering a few optional evening activities on Saturday and Sunday and optional fieldtrips on Tuesday, April 15.

Standard Fees: The price for registration is $470 per person for early registration and $500 per person at the regular rate. Multiple registrants from the same organization receive discounts. Exact fees and full registration details are available on the registration page.

Fee Includes:

  • Reception Friday evening
  • All sessions from Saturday-Monday
  • Breakfast and break refreshments on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
  • Round trip bus transportation from the conference hotel to the Museum on Monday

Marketplace/Vendor Opportunities

Mutual Concerns hosts a small exhibitor forum called the "Marketplace," featuring vendors that offer services and products of interest to air and space museum professionals. Every year, we welcome back some familiar sponsors with new information and seek a few different exhibitors to add to our forum, so each year our attendees are able to get the latest information on areas that interest them. We integrate the Marketplace throughout our conference and events so our attendees and exhibitors have ample time to meet and talk in a relaxed atmosphere.
