Plenty of Leg Room
I arrived at the airport in San Francisco two hours before my morning flight to Washington, D.C. I noted that my plane was due in from San Diego but was delayed two more hours by fog. It was not being allowed to take off. When I asked an airline rep if I should turn in my check-in luggage so early, it was recommended that I list myself as standby for the four flights departing earlier. I did, but the first three filled without my getting called. When I finally made the fourth flight (which only beat my planned flight by 30 minutes), I was astounded to find that the 150+ seat plane had only FOUR passengers! The other passengers had also put themselves on standby and had caught the earlier flights. The airline had to run the flight because the plane was needed on the East Coast, as the carrier for a flight from Washington to Paris. At last! A flight on which I had plenty of room and no crowds to fight getting on or off.
