Albert
Einstein explored the Universe not with a telescope, but with his mind. During
the early 1900s he created his theories of relativity, which showed mathematically
how gravity, space, and time are related. According to Einstein, gravity is really
the warping of space and time by matter, and the warping of space affects how
matter and light move. His theories included the famous equating of mass and energy
(E=mc2) and also suggested that the Universe might be expanding, which
was later confirmed by the observations of Edwin Hubble and his colleagues.
