Silk Dress Balloon Fabric
This scrap of fabric from a Confederate reconnaissance balloon used during the Civil War was collected by Thaddeus Lowe and donated to the Museum by a member of his estate. One can see the various patterns from the different styles of dress silk used in the construction.
