Seattle as a Destination

Seattle is the gateway to the Pacific Northwest. Surrounded by expansive water, two mountain ranges and three national parks, it is two cities in one: a world-class metropolis set within wild, beautiful natural surroundings, offering the best of urban lifestyle while embracing the rugged outdoors.

Often recognized as one of the best walking cities in the U.S., Seattle's compact downtown allows visitors to easily explore some of the city's well-known attractions, including Pike Place Market, the oldest continuously-operated farmers' market in the U.S. A stroll through the market reveals Seattle's culinary bounty: wild salmon; Dungeness crab; fresh produce; strong coffee; craft beers and ales; and a wide selection of internationally acclaimed Washington wines.

If you have the time to stay before or after the conference, investigate some out-of-city excursions. Three national parks lie within a two-hour drive of Seattle. Mt. Rainier National Park features the snow-capped 14,000-foot mountain which backdrops the city's skyline; Olympic National Park offers the only temperate rain forests in the continental U.S.; and the North Cascades National Park offers stunning views of jagged peaks and glacial lakes. There are also day trips via catamaran to British Columbia and the popular San Juan Islands. The Port of Seattle also offers cruises to Alaska's Inside Passage, beginning in early May.

Marketplace/Vendor Opportunities

Mutual Concerns hosts a small exhibitor forum called the "Marketplace," featuring vendors that offer services and products of interest to air and space museum professionals. Every year, we welcome back some familiar sponsors with new information and seek a few new and different exhibitors to add to our forum, to provide our attendees with the latest information on areas that interest them. We integrate the Marketplace throughout our conference and events so our attendees and exhibitors have ample time to meet and talk in a relaxed atmosphere.

For more information about vendor opportunities contact Jean DeStefano at 202-633-2388 or e-mail nasmmutualconcerns@si.edu. If you are an attendee and would like to see a specific vendor attend the Marketplace, please contact Jean.
