The Silver Hill Museum is renamed the Paul
E. Garber Preservation, Restoration, and Storage
Facility, recognizing the contributions
of Paul Garber, NASM's historian emeritus and Ramsey
Fellow, who joined the Smithsonian in 1920 and was
responsible for acquiring a large portion of the
Museum's aeronautical collection. |
The Museum provides live, real-time coverage of
the Voyager fly-by of Saturn,
a planetarium show on Saturn, and a theater presentation
of Voyager's encounter with Jupiter. |
The largest piece of the fabric that covered the
original 1903 Wright Flyer is donated to the Museum
by Ivonette Miller of Dayton, Ohio, a niece of the
Wright brothers. |
