Space Race, an exhibition that centers on the Cold War contest between the United States and the former Soviet Union opens (May 16). Eleven Russian artifacts in the exhibition on a ten-year loan from the Perot Foundation allow visitors to compare and contrast American and Russian space efforts and to highlight a half-century of international competition and cooperation in space.
Premiering in the Langley Theater, "Mission to Mir"--filmed in space--tours Russia's space station Mir, captures the historic docking with the space shuttle Atlantis, and highlights the first three Americans to spend time on Mir-Norm Thagard, John Blaha, and Shannon Lucid.
"Women and Flight," a photography exhibit by staff photographer Carolyn Russo that features female aviators and astronauts, premieres at the Museum before traveling around the United States (June 14).

"Star Wars: The Magic of Myth" opens, showcasing the original artwork, costumes, characters, props and models
from the successful "Star Wars" film trilogy.
