Recent exhibitions by Aeronautics curators include: The Wright Brothers & the Invention of the Aerial Age, featuring a close-up view of the original 1903 Wright Flyer and 170 other related artifacts. This exhibition closes on October 17, 2005, when the Flyer will be returned to its usual hanging position in the Milestones of Flight gallery. Generous Friends: Building an Art Collection for the National Air and Space Museum, a new installation of artwork from the NASM permanent art collection, opened in October 2004. Aeronautics curators are currently working on a major new exhibition in the Hall of Air Transportation, scheduled to open in 2006, and a traveling aviation poster exhibition called Fly Now!
