This series consists of materials predating Davis' admission to the United States Military Academy at West Point in June 1932, including materials relating to Agatha Scott before her marriage to Davis. Some materials predating June 1932, including materials relating to Davis' parents and Scott and material relating to Davis' military career, have been compiled into scrapbooks by Mrs. Davis; these have been filed in Subseries II.B. Other materials, primarily correspondence and other documents relating to Davis' parents, were collected or acquired by Davis while he was researching his autobiography. Such documents are located in Series IV.
