Navy 'Mosquito' Boats Passing New York Skyline: A squadron of new Navy PT 'mosquito' torpedo boats shown under way, passing by lower Manhattan skyline, on the way out to sea. These new and powerful little 77 foot boats are powered by three 1,200 h.p. engines and can hit a top speed of around 70 mph. They are extremely well armed for defensive and offensive purposes by heavy calibre machine guns and torpedo tubes. (1942).
