Landcover Change Maps
The maps listed below show where paved surfaces expanded between 1993 and 1997. They cover areas centered on Washington D.C. and the areas to the west and east of town.
How were these maps made?
These results are based on interpretation of Landsat data. Using multispectral data, areas with low vegetation signatures and high correlation between visible and IR bands were identified as paved landcover. Click here for details.
