  Ft. Myer Trial Flights  
  This picture was taken at Fort Myer. This military post is near Washington, DC. The US Army was interested in buying an airplane from the Wright brothers. Orville had to show the army that the airplane could do what they wanted. These flights took place during August and September of 1908. Orville flew alone. Wilbur was in France.
