Apollo 8 Returned. An impressionistic depiction of Apollo 8 being picked up by the USS Yorktown after it splashed down in the Pacific Ocean. The ship occupies the left side of the piece and includes some details such as aircraft in the back and men on a platform with the rigging that extends out over the sea. The dark, round Apollo 8 spacecraft waits in the blue-green water at the end of the white reflection from the rising sun.
