This knife was carried by one of the Gemini XII astronauts, Jim Lovell or Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, on their four-day orbital mission, November 11-15, 1966, the last in Project Gemini.

 Long Description

Spaceflight mission planners had to consider the possibility of a returning astronaut landing outside the planned recovery area. In preparation for this contingency, astronauts carried survival and signal equipment on their missions. During the Mercury program most of the survival equipment used was standard military issue. The Gemini and Apollo survival kits differed considerably. Many of their items were designed and built specifically for use by astronauts.
