Object Details
Date 1887-1903 Country of Origin United States of America Type EQUIPMENT-Test Manufacturer Smithsonian Institution
Physical Description This casting pattern appears to be one half of a bigger object. if laid on its side, a "2" can be seen. Further, the center piece (half circle), seems glued to squared pieces on both ends. This would allow the object to stand by itself. Between the half circle and squared pieces, there are tiny pieces which give the object a curved, uniform look. However, there are no holes on these bottom squared pieces to indicate the object was "attached" to anything. However, there is tiny hole in the center of the half circle. This indictes that the object was made to be laid on its side for a similar object to be "stacked" on top, to be held for the purpose of something being glued to it. For research purposes this may indicate a development of engine cylinders. The object should be considered a "single" item that compliments a counter piece just like it.
