Lt Ward Hitt, Jr. leans against a North American F-86A Sabre fighter, 1950-'51. Hitt wears a flotation device (Mae West) and is wearing his crash helmet, emblazoned with his nickname "Turkey" and the "Rocketeers" insignia of the 336th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron. An oxygen mask is attached to his helmet.
