"PASSENGER MOVEMENT - TERMINAL TO PLANE." Graphic illustration; simplified cutaway side view of three methods of moving passengers from airport terminal gate (left) to aircraft (right); dotted lines show the path taken. Top to bottom: "old system" (covered walkway with steps down to the field, passengers exposed to weather for final walk to aircraft), "gangplank on finger" (enclosed passageway or "finger" extends out from gate, with telescoping jetway at end to connect to aircraft), and "MOBILE LOUNGE" (mobile lounge collects passengers from gate, drives to aircraft, then connects to aircraft to load passengers). Circa early 1960s.
