Aerial views of dredging operations and construction of the field, hangar, and terminal building of Washington National Airport at Gravelly Point, Virginia, 1938-1940. Also visible in several photographs are the Bureau of Public Roads Abingdon Research Station, Washington-Hoover Airport (Arlington, Virginia), and parts of the city of Washington, D.C., including the US Army Air Corps base at Bolling Field.
