Hand-colored etching of the Battle of Fleurus (June 26, 1794) between the army of revolutionary France and the Imperial armies, a coalition force of British, Dutch, Hanoverian, and Austrian troops. Scene shows the two armies meeting on the battlefield, with a balloon aloft over the French army. The French employed the Corps d'Aerostier in combat for the first time.
