Collection Item Summary:

Arthur C. Clarke is perhaps most well known for his collaboration with director Stanley Kubrick on the 1968 film classic "2001: A Space Odyssey." Author Piers Bizony found inspiration in 2001, resulting in his 1994 book "2001: Filming the Future". As part of that effort, Bizony enlisted artist Simon Atkinson to prepare this drawing of one of the film's iconic spacecraft, the EVA Pod.

To honor Clarke, Bizony and Atkinson presented him with the drawing, autographing it on the reverse.

The Museum acquired Clarke’s personal papers and select memorabilia in 2014.
