Two US Army officers, John Courtney (left) and another identified only as Doyle, stand by the tail of a captured Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter aircraft at an airfield in Montecorvino, Italy, September 1943. The fighter was captured when the Luftwaffe pilot landed, unaware that the airfield had been captured a few days earlier.
