This is the right outer spacesuit glove worn by Russian cosmonaut Vasily Tsibliyev, when he was commander of the Mir 23 expedition in 1997. He was commander of the station when American astronauts Michael Foals, and later Jerry Linenger were on board for extended stays as part of joint Space Shuttle and Mir misions. Tsibliev used this glove when he performed a spacewalk on the outside of the space station. The inner working of the glove that kept it airtight are missing and were most likely removed for testing before Tsibliyev was award the outer portion and guantlet for his own use.
Tsibliyev later sold his glove to a collector whose estate donated it to the musuem.
