James Norman Hall in uniform with face bandaged about the nose, rides in back of open vehicle. His right arm rests on the edge of vehicle and his left arm holds a small, dark dog (probably a dachshund). A number of men in German uniform are seen around the vehicle. Hall was shot down and captured near Pagny-sur-Moselle, May 7, 1918.
