Portrait of Dr. Noel Hinners (1935-2014), former director of the National Air and Space Museum from 1979 to 1982; NASA associate administrator for space science and director of the Goddard Space Flight Center (1982-1987). Dr. Hinners retired in 2002 from Lockheed Martin Space Systems, where he had been vice president of Flight Systems with responsibility for NASA's Mars Global Surveyor, Mars Surveyor Program, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, Stardust and Genesis Discovery missions, Space (Nuclear) Power Systems and Mission Operations for NASA/LM planetary missions.
