"LWF and Standard JR airplanes. This was not a taxiing accident but the LWF landed squarely on top of a standard Hall-Scott 4 in the middle of Chanute Field. The student who was soloing the Standard had escaped in time. The LWF pilot, later to become Major General Thomas Hanley, escaped with slight face injuries. November 1917."
