This object is on display in the Apollo to the Moon exhibition at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.

Collection Item Summary:

This Lunar Module model was given to Dr. Charles S. Draper by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Dr. Draper was the founder and director of the university's Instrumentation Laboratory and developed guidance systems for naval vessels, aircraft, rockets, missiles, and spacecraft. The Apollo spacecraft were among those that utilized his guidance systems. Dr. Draper donated the model to NASM in 1980.
