Collection Item Summary:

Three unidentified men working on John J. Montgomery's "Santa Clara" 1905 tandem monoplane glider as other men stand in the background. Guy ropes for the masts that supported Mongomery's hot-air balloon, used to launch the glider, are visible in the foreground. Possibly taken prior to one of the flights made by Daniel Maloney in Aptos and Santa Clara, California in 1905. Maloney was killed on July 18, 1905 when the glider sustained structural failure.
