Uncolored lithograph of a portrait of Edward Spencer, who was in the balloon with Charles Green at the ascent from Vauxhall Gardens on July 24, 1837, when Robert Cocking's experimental parachute failed. Portrait shows the Nassau Balloon with Robert Cocking's parachute aloft in the background. Below the image is Edward Spencer's name, birthdate, a caption describing his ballooning experiences, and a copy of his signature. Edward Spencer had made 27 ascents with Green at the time of the portrait.
