Collection Item Summary:

One-quarter rear left view of Jacqueline "Jackie" Cochran's North American P-51B Mustang racer (r/n NX28388, race number 13). Cochran flew this plane to second place in the 1946 Bendix race at 420.925 MPH. Bruce Gimbel flew it to fourth place in in the 1947 Bendix race, and Cochran finished third in it in the 1948 Bendix race at 445.847 MPH. National Air Races, Cleveland, Ohio.
