This is a personnel parachute worn by either Charles "Pete" Conrad or Richard Gordon during their Gemini XI mission, September 12-15, 1966. If there had been an emergency during launch or reentry, they would have ejected from the spacecraft in their ejection seats. This parachute would have deployed after the astronaut separated from the seat. Manufactured by Northrop Ventura, NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center transferred this parachute to NASM in 1967.
