Collection Item Summary:

"Organization of Society of Interplanetary Travel in the USSR," in _Teknika i Zhizn' (Technology and Life)_, Moscow, No. 12, 1924, p. 1, picture story. The story relates the formation of the "Section on Reaction Engines" of the Russian Air Force Academy, the section having been formed in mid-April 1924 at a conference of the Military-Scientific Society. The group is also called "The Section on Interplanetary Travel of the Air Force Academy," amd was therefore the oldest group of its kind in the USSR. Those shown in the picture are identified as the members of this group, left to right: Kaperskiy, Rezunov and Leyteyzen. Tsander and other Soviet authorities on space travel were to lecture to the group and they were also to design a small rocket. A laboratory and small library was opened, and a movie group also organized.
